Managing product expiry is crucial for businesses that deal with perishable items. Zuriey POS allows you to enable and manage product expiry effectively. Here’s how to set it up:
Steps to Enable Product Expiry
- Navigate to Business Settings:
- Go to Settings -> Business Settings and find the Product section.
- Enable Product Expiry:
- Check the “Enable Product Expiry” checkbox.
- Choose Expiry Method:
- After enabling product expiry, you can select one of two options:
- Add Item Expiry: Choose this option if you want to directly add the expiry date for each item at the purchase screen.
- Add Manufacturing Date & Expiry Period: Select this option if you want to enter the manufacturing date and specify an expiry period. The system will auto-calculate the expiry date based on these inputs, and you can edit the expiry date as needed.
- After enabling product expiry, you can select one of two options:
- Set Actions on Product Expiry:
- Decide what the system should do when a product expires:
- Keep Selling: Allows continued sales of the product even after it has expired.
- Stop Selling n Days Before: Choose this option to halt sales a specified number of days (n) before the expiry date. You must provide the value of n.
- Decide what the system should do when a product expires:
- Select Stock Accounting Method:
- Determine how products should be sold based on their expiry dates:
- FIFO (First In First Out): The oldest stock is sold first.
- LIFO (Last In First Out): The most recently purchased stock is sold first.
- Example:
- Purchase 20 pcs of Product A on March 20, 2018, with an expiry date of April 10, 2018.
- Purchase another 20 pcs of Product A on March 23, 2018, with an expiry date of April 8, 2018.
- If you sell 22 pcs today:
- With FIFO, 20 pcs from March 20 will be deducted first, followed by 2 pcs from March 23.
- With LIFO, the opposite will occur.
- Determine how products should be sold based on their expiry dates:
