Managing Units in Zuriey POS

In Zuriey POS, you can define different units for products to accommodate various measurement systems. This feature is particularly useful when purchasing or selling products in different units.

Adding Units

To add new units in Zuriey POS, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Units: Go to Products -> Units.
2. Add a New Unit:
   • Unit Name: Enter the full name of the unit (e.g., Meter).
   • Short Name: Provide a short name or abbreviation (e.g., Mtr.).
   • Allow Decimal: Choose whether to allow decimal values for this unit.
     • Example:
       • Name: Meter
       • Short Name: Mtr.
       • Allow Decimal: Yes

Allowing decimals enables you to purchase or sell products in fractional quantities.

Multiple Units

You can use multiple units for a product, which is beneficial if you purchase items in one unit and sell them in another. For example, you might purchase products by the dozen and sell them by the piece.

Steps to Add Multiple Units:

1. Add the Lower Unit: Start by adding the lower unit (e.g., Pieces) from the Add Unit screen.
2. Add the Higher Unit:
   • Check the option “Add as multiple of another unit.”
   • Provide conversion details (e.g., 1 Dozen = 12 Pieces).
3. Using Units in Products:
   • When adding or editing a product, you will see a dropdown for units. Select the desired unit, and it will adjust the purchase/sale price accordingly.
   • Note that you will not see the main unit (e.g., Dozen) in the product unit dropdown; instead, select the lower unit (e.g., Pieces). All purchases and sales will be recorded in this lower unit.
4. Editing Conversion Details: If you edit conversion details after adding purchases or sales, it will affect the recorded quantities accordingly.

Selecting Relevant Sub-Units for a Product

If certain products only require specific sub-units, you can enable this feature:

1. Enable Sub-Units: Go to Business Settings -> Products and enable relevant sub-units.
2. Adding Products with Sub-Units:
   • When adding products, select the main unit and then choose from multiple applicable sub-units.
   • This selection allows you to conduct purchases or sales using the chosen sub-units.

Secondary Units

Secondary units can be added for products that may vary in size or weight each time. For example, a single piece of stone might weigh 10 kg, 20 kg, or 30 kg.

Enabling Secondary Units:

1. Go to Settings: Navigate to Settings -> Business Settings -> Products.
2. Enable Secondary Units: Once enabled, a secondary unit label will appear on the add/edit product screen.
3. Using Secondary Units:
   • When selecting this product during purchases or sales, the secondary unit label will also be displayed.
   • Details of secondary units are shown in the product stock history.

Important Note on Secondary Units

• The secondary unit is not used for calculations; it serves only as a reference for tracking products with varying sub-units.
