Managing Tax Rates and Tax Groups in Zuriey POS

In Zuriey POS, managing tax rates and tax groups is essential for accurately calculating taxes on sales and purchases. Below is a comprehensive guide on how to add tax rates, create tax groups, and disable taxes if necessary.

Adding New Tax Rates

  1. Navigate to Tax Rates:
    • Go to Settings -> Tax Rates.
  2. Add a New Tax Rate:
    • Click on the Add button.
  3. Enter Tax Details:
    • Descriptive Name: Provide a meaningful name for the tax (e.g., “VAT@5%”).
    • Tax Rate %: Specify the percentage rate for the tax.
  4. Save Changes:
    • Click on Save to add the new tax rate.

Creating Tax Groups

Sometimes, you may need to apply multiple taxes to an invoice or purchase. In such cases, creating tax groups allows you to combine multiple taxes effectively.

  1. Navigate to Tax Groups:
    • Go to Settings -> Tax Groups.
  2. Add a New Tax Group:
    • Click on the Add button.
  3. Enter Group Details:
    • Meaningful Name: Provide a name for the tax group that reflects its purpose.
    • Select Taxes: Choose the individual taxes you want to include in this tax group.
  4. Tax Rate Calculation:
    • The tax rate of the tax group will automatically be calculated as the sum of the rates of the sub-taxes added.
  5. Edit Sub-Taxes:
    • If you edit any of the sub-taxes, the corresponding tax group’s tax rate will update automatically.
  6. Restrictions on Deletion:
    • Note that you cannot delete a tax if it is currently being used in a tax group.

Disabling Taxes

If you wish to disable taxes entirely in your system:

  1. Do Not Add Tax Rates:
    • Ensure that no tax rates are added in the settings.
  2. Access Business Settings:
    • Go to Settings -> Business Settings.
  3. Disable Inline Tax Options:
    • Uncheck the option for “Enable inline tax in purchase and sell.”
    • Uncheck “Enable Price & Tax info.”
  4. Set Default Sale Tax:
    • Select “Default Sale Tax” as None.
  5. Impact of Disabling Taxes:
    • Note that if you disable inline tax in purchases and sales, the "Price Inc tax" column will not be shown in the POS screen.
